WHOLENESS. ONENESS. FREEDOM. PRACTICAL, EMBODIED STRATEGIES FOR ADDICTIONS RECOVERY, POST-TRAUMATIC GROWTH, COMING OUT, BREAKING FREE, AND EXPLORING THE PATH WITH HEART ...
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you figure out why.” -- Mark Twain
“If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will set you free." -- The Gospel of Thomas
"'To be is to inter-be. You cannot just be by yourself ... you have to inter-be with every other thing." -- Thich Nhat Hanh
"Mitakuye Oyasın means, we belong to everything.” George Whitewolf, Monacan Indian Nation
My coaching is simple and profound: I can help you rediscover the wholeness, belonging, and freedom that is your birthright. I can help you listen deeply to the wisdom of your own body, your nervous system, and your very breath, drawing on the most recent cutting-edge discoveries of neurophysiology and trauma healing. I can help you listen to the voices of your heart, your soul, and your spirit, and the great mystery that sustains us, drawing on the ancient wisdom traditions of the world. Each of us must do our own work, but we don't have to do it alone -- sometimes it makes all the difference in the world just to have someone in our life who brings out the best in us. I can be one of those people for you. Ours is a co-creative equal partnership; I stand beside you as a clear mirror, a coach, a cheerleader, a mentor, a midwife, a teacher and a friend. |
COMMON ISSUES ...
Some of the most common issues people seek help with in our coaching work are:
Some of the most common issues people seek help with in our coaching work are:
- Helping Soulful LGBTQ People (and Friends) Rediscover their own wholeness, belonging and freedom. As a Gay/Queer, non-binary walks-between person, I understand the ways life can fragment, disconnect, and trap us, and I've done the hard work to reclaim and live the heart's truth with myself and countless others.
- Long-term Addictions Recovery and Beyond: With thirty years of experience in my own recovery and supporting others in theirs, I can help you create a recovery program that works for you but doesn't cut corners -- a recovery path grounded in your own deepest wisdom and hard-won experience.
- Post-Traumatic Growth: When we've done the hard work of healing our traumas (big and small) in therapy, we discover that we need another set of skills we didn't know we were missing: the skills to manage our nervous system in a chaotic and disregulated world. We also discover a possibility we had never imagined in our wildest dreams: the ability to turn our deepest wounds into our greatest strengths. Coaching for post-traumatic growth shows us how!
- Coming Out: One of the bravest things we will every do, and the greatest gifts we will ever give, is the powerful work of discovering, exploring, and expressing the deepest truths of our own being. I've helped LGBTQ, neurodivergent, oppressed and marginalized folks come out to themselves and their world for over thirty years, and embrace the gifts they're here to give.
- Breaking Free: Sometimes we know we're stuck, but we're not sure exactly where or how. Coaching can help us see ourselves clearly, bring love to the stuck places, and set ourselves free!
- Discovering the Path with Heart: Something inside you knows the path you were born to walk. No, it's not always the path that brings the greatest short-term happiness, or the one that feels like "following your bliss" -- but it is the one that is yours, and it will grow you beyond any other path you can imagine.
How it Works ...
I coach through phone and video sessions, face-to-face meetings, group conferences, and e-mail correspondence. In every coaching session, I will ask you to set an intention for the session. Through deep listening, focused questions, spiritual exercises, somatic and breath work, insights, and practical suggestions, I will help you develop concrete action steps to take back out into your life. In all of my work, I follow the highest standards of ethical and professional practice.
How is your coaching different from other coaching?
Most coaching is built around who you think you are — your personality, or “self” — with all of its shame, doubt, guilt, and fear — and seeks to improve that self in some way, so that you and your life look a little more like your images of perfection. My coaching supports you doing something far more radical and revolutionary -- discovering a truer, wiser, more authentic Self -- the Spirit within you, whose very nature is to love it Self and its Life -- and then entrusting your whole life into its hands. At the same time, I will support you in developing the real skills to live that Truth in your life, drawing on the latest discoveries in neurophysiology and breathwork, the Toltec arts, the Arts of Spirit drawn from wisdom traditions around the world: cultivating practical self-love, freeing the wisdom mind, growing true power, cultivating surrender, and developing real presence.
How is your coaching different from therapy?
Psychotherapy focuses on lessening dysfunction, curing disease, letting go of the past, and reducing pain; our work builds on what works, promotes health, embraces the present, and transforms pain into possibility. Therapy looks at problems, while our work focuses on possibilities. Therapy is an unequal relationship; our work is a co-creative, heart-centered, equal partnership. My mission is not to give you answers; it is to help you discover your own. I am not here to diagnose you: I am here to help you recognize your soul's deepest truth and empower you to achieve your most important dreams.
What if I need help with other issues too?
Coaching can help you create the life you want while you use other resources for treating other issues. Coaching is not enough by itself for dealing with clinical depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, early recovery from addictions, or other serious, persistent mental illness. If we discover that psychotherapy, psychiatric care, addictions treatment, or support groups may be helpful, I will support you in locating the resources you need to create a life that serves you.
Can it work for me?
This work has transformed my life, and the lives of many others completely! -- and it can work for you if you’re willing to do the work! It takes a commitment to awareness, to loving yourself, and trusting yourself enough to take small risks. It takes a longing for life. It takes practice. Every step is easier that the way we used to live, as we begin to experience our lives with less struggle, suffering, or drama.
Who do you work with?
My clients come from all walks of life. Some have achieved a level of success in their lives, but find themselves stuck or unfulfilled: they long for more joy, peace, creativity, or satisfaction. Despite their success, they are riddled with self-doubt. Some have faced major losses and are just beginning to learn how to live again. Some have been on a path of recovery from addictions, and despite many years of sobriety, find that their lives fall short of the promises that motivated them to recover. Some are already enjoying their lives, but feel like there is more that they want to give the world. All of my clients, regardless of the issues that brought them to me, discovered the wisdom, faith, and love inside themselves to create a more vibrant, satisfying, and creative life.
How will coaching support my recovery?
Our work is an empowering support for people with addictions who want to build on sobriety and recovery -- people who want to thrive! Just as addiction can only survive in an addictive lifestyle, an addictive lifestyle can only survive in an inauthentic life. My coaching offers freedom -- not freedom “from” your addictions, but freedom "to" -- freedom to be yourself, to create and enjoy an authentic life. Recovery is a miracle -- but we are born for even more …
